Default Canadian Made RFC cap badge

Here is a Canadian Made RFC cap badge, made by Roden Bros. of Toronto. The letters RFC have been highlighted by some type of wash.

Hi Mike:
It is a lovely example from the Roden maker. A bit of an enigma perhaps as the fasteners are the standard loop for cap and collar but the red and blue finish was often reserved for sweetheart brooches, which normally have pin backs.
I thought initially the wreath had a lovely patina but I think it's just the blue wash wearing off. I've taken the liberty of tweaking the contrast on your badge to illustrate this. It certainly would have stood out on a uniform as distinct, albeit not an approved style.
Just my thoughts.

I also thought the badge had a colour wash on the wreath and your altered photo highlights it. Perhaps painted by the airman to give as a gift?

Interesting, I didn't see the blue wash until now. Who would have worn this, an officer, senior NCO?
