Hello All
I picked up the 2 Special Constabulary badges today a very nice East Riding SC and a dated 1914 SC pin badge. Can anyone tell me anything about the Red & White armband please? Many thanks Destro |

Police SC
Its a "duty armband":
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duty_armband http://gmic.co.uk/topic/38301-police-duty-armbands/ The City of London police may still wear their red & white striped band, Sgts & Constables on opposite sleeves, they were still wearing them in the early 80's when other forces had stopped wearing them. |

Hope this is of use.:
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ci...wZ-97uYTCULTM: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ci...6DJMrYk3i2nmM: My recollection is that in the 1980's-90's the police wore a myriad of different shades of dark blue/black & weights of cloth for uniforms, but City of London wore a very snazzy, good quality, well cut navy blue. They also wore gold coloured metal insignia such as buttons (other forces wore silver coloured) & red & white diced cap bands & duty arm bands instead of the other forces dark blue/black & white. |
