Cool J.R. Gaunt

Could anyone tell me the exact date when J.R. Gaunt stopped manufacturing badges in London and moved to Birmingham?

Hi Rob,

I can only comment from an A/A perspective but why do you think Gaunt made badges in London?

They certainly had admin/sales offices in London from 1918 until I believe 1973 when John R. Gaunt sold up to the Birmingham Mint Group. By 1985 the registered office was:

The Mint, Icknield Street, Birmingham, B18 6RX

where Gaunt was known as:

‘A subsidiary of The Birmingham Mint PLC’.

For actual manufacture as far as I know, again from an A/A perspective only, all was carried out at the Warstone Parade Works, Birmingham.

Regards

Chris

I think Sonofacqms is refering to the use of the 'J.R. GAUNT LONDON' mark on badges Chris, including annodised.

Default JRG

Many thanks chaps, sorry my original thread was not too clear, but yes, I wanted to know roughly when the Gaunt London stopped being used on current serving units badges.
