Royal Observer Corps Officers Adapted Badge
Recently an interesting take on a Royal Observer Corps badge appeared on eBay and sold very well (£170+). Someone had taken a 1st Pattern Observer Corps Officers Badge (pre-1941) and combined it with the war time economy issue Royal Observer Corps woven officers badge. The metal section of the woven badge being removed and substituted with the earlier officers badge.
Clearly never issued that way, but it appears to have all the age commensurate with badges of the period and it looks too have been adapted at that time too - so it certainly makes for an interesting piece. (It would be more interesting if it there were period images of it being worn!) For the record, attached are images of an Original OC Officers 1st Pattern Badge on the padded back ground, the hybrid badge which is the real subject of this post and an example of the WW2 Economy issue ROC Officers Cap Badge (discernible from later issues by the use of the gold coloured silk thread in the wreath in the background).

Its good to be able to see the difference in the shape of the scroll on the original Observer Corps officers badge (circular) and the metal centre to the Royal Observer Corps officers badge (wavy) as the latter is often sold incorrectly on its own as an Observer Corps badge.
