Default collars

Pair of silver mess dress? collars to the 42nd C.E.F. by Bent & Parker Birmingham. The left hand one dated 1917 the right one 1918.
The silver lugs are also stamped with the lion standard mark. On the brooched example only the top lug has been removed, the bottom one cut on the side to accept the pin. Although difficult to see this lug also has the lion mark.

Pair of OSD collars by Scully, lugs absent from the reverse. This pair not shown in my collars scan.

Ron great collection. I was wondering if you could give me some advice on BW collars and sporran badges. I am after both and ideally from the time period of the volunteers through to the end of WW1. Oh, and for O/Rs. Looking at your collection and on-line images it would appear that a long haired St.Andrew seems a better bet? Also a bald version? But a bald on top with hair on the sides is more modern? Am I being too simplistic?

Thanks

Bryan

Hi Bryan, are you talking about the Canadian BW or the BW of Scotland?

Hi again Ron, just realised I am on the Canadian board! I came to your collar badges via a search and did not realise they were not Scottish, I apologise for the confusion.

A truly outstanding collection Ron.

Well done indeed. Lovely to see all this displayed as a group too.

Cheers, Roy.

Bryan, you need to get a copy of Colin Churchills book History of the British Army collar badge, there are four pages on BW collars.
Alternatively see BW badges from my collection on the Black Watch Forum.co.uk
