I dont know if it shows in the image but the slider pocket is quite high on the beret and the slider is in fact in as far as it will go

I think someone has married the beret with the badge, but they were not issued together, eg the beret was not made until after the CAR had been disbanded.

Im of that opinion as the slot in the beret seems to have been made for a deeper badge so it could have originated from one of the airbourne companies that are part of some of the regular Canadian infantry regts or be a parade beret of a former member of the CAR.

I have seen many RCR capbadges that would fit properly in that beret due to the slider and the size of the RCR capbadge.

It is a common problem, soldiers don't cut the slider pocket open in the correct place, but at the top of the stitching. This puts the badge too high. I was constantly "correcting" soldiers for this. The other problem is when soldiers loose badges, the new badges have longer sliders than the older badges, not so much of a problem anymore but it still occurs.

Thanks for the comments guys Im glad to have the badges and the beret even if the badge and beret arnt a perfect match
