Default Suffolk or Monmouth and Cheshire Yeo

I have just acquired the second volume of "Crewe and Nantwich at War" by Mark Potts and Tony Marks. It is a hard back book full of great photos including members of various regiment not only those local to South Cheshire.

I asked Mark (Potts ) about the first photo which is also shown on the back of the dust jacket of the book and he knows it is Mark Brooke and believes the photo shows him as a Drum Major in the Monmouthshire Regiment ( but apparently he was from Bury St.Edmunds and had been a drummer in the 12th Foot.)

The second photo shows Mark Brooke and his two sons circa 1900. I am not sure about the regiment and any thoughts would be appreciated.

The 3rd photo is of Henry Beckett of Crewe and the caption says he served in the Cavalry around the time of the Crimean War. I think he is in the Cheshire Yeomanry ( The shako plate is the same design as the Cheshire Yeomanry sabretache badge )

At £14.99 a recommended book and ( I think ) good value for money.

P.B.

Peter,

The photo shows a Bugle Major of the Royal Engineers.
So I think you are hitting the spot with your guess.
