L/Cpl Tilley, Essex Regiment. Possibly James Tilley, 4349-10877-6002518

He is wearing a 1915 economy tunic with the flat pockets so mid war.

The economy jacket can be seen surviving in photos right into late war so its not terribly useful for dating.

He must have reached the grand old age of 18 or 19 at the time the picture was taken.

If it is James Tilley, (I agree it probably is) it appears he did survive The War

Great picture, thanks for sharing it.

I have bought a collection of Essex Regiment post cards and the majority are named on the back. Several have surname and an initial but L/Cpl Tilley, Pte Rowe and Cpl Doyle are surname only. They all appear to be 2nd Btn Essex and many have this stated on the back. Pte Tilley stands out because he appears to have originally been in a Territorial Battalion.
