Kootenays
I have seen a badge with Kootenays on it way back when.
Is it possible that someone can send me a link or picture of this badge. Going to try and collect some stuff (medals etc) from soldiers from Grand Forks, BC. |

KOOTENAY CEF BNs
There are two Kootenay battalions that I know of. The 54th and 225th both formed during world war one, as part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Don't have ant photos of these badges, but I'm sure someone on the forum can help. There was also the 107 East Kootenay Regiment formed before WW1.

Hi sniper. Are you looking for the pre-1914 militia 107th East Kootenay Regiment or, the CEF's 54th Battalion??? If it is the 107th, Articmedals has one for sale now.

East Kootenay $225 ??? Whoa Nelly. (Not what I really said) Thanks for the help and links troops. At least I will have a reference to go back to in case I do find them. Knew of the 54th but was not aware of 225th (that I can remember) Going to be a long search I figure. |

It seems pricey, but it looks like a super badge. I have only seen two East Kootenay sell on ebay: $167 (11/08), and $118 (02/09).

Thanks. Threw a bid in but seems someone else wants it a bit more.
Not sure what Sweetheart pins go for but I would guess whatever someone is willing to pay. Thanks for the link again. Appreciate that. Dan |

Sweetheart pins are very difficult to value. They are a collectable in themselves, but are also "cross collected". Some acquire them because they are collecting that unit (as Dan indicates), or are after them because of the CEF connection.
Generally speaking, sweethearts go for $20 - $25, but scarce ones and sterling silver ones reach far higher values. |

54th Kootenay Batt
Here is a nice set to the 54th Kootenay Batt. I picked up this past weekend at the Edmonton show. The 54th does not come around too often.
