Unknown flash Possible AIF?
Hi all
Need opinions on this cloth flash. This a 2 piece felt. Measure 7cm (70mm) x 5.5cm (55mm) I had posted on the British side with no results. However I did come across a WWI AIF 21st Bn flash with this colour scheme. It should be rotated 90 degrees Black on red cheers Phill |

Hi Phill, not a WW1 construction I am familiar with and our diamond patches were even, i.e., a square worn as a diamond. It might be late 1930s or early 1940s manufacture for 21 Bn but the shape is unusually distorted for Australian patches.

Hi Keith
Yes I agree the 2 pce felt is not WWI era as you say 30's or nore 40's. The WWI variant I have seen was a thin felt or melton wool. Can I then take it , it is 21st Bn WWII era? Phill |

Thanks BC
Not Aus,Can, NZ or British. Yes I'm getting that feeling its a mystery or a dreaded reproduction. cheers for the input. I think it might end up in that mystery box we collectors have. Phill |

I wouldn't give up on it Phill, given the huge variety of British cloth regimental distinctions from WW1 and WW2, many of which are undocumented, it is quite possible the answer is out there.
