Manchester Bee Poppy pin
Arrived yesterday , 2023 Manchester Bee Poppy pin.
These official pins were first produced in 2017 shortly after the Manchester Arena bombing , so have a double significance . "We Will Remember Them"

LPD (London Poppy Day) 2023 - Not sold to general public but hopefully getting one. London Ambulance Service 2023 - Not sold to general public but hopefully getting one. I'm doing great this year ! .

Jersey Poppy Appeal
Picked up these wonderful numbered limited edition Jersey Poppy Appeal pins , they are from St. Ouen parish (district).
Jersey started producing poppy pins in 2006 . Each of the 12 "parishes" (areas) has a different crest and the island's fire, ambulance , prison services and the Royal Jersey Militia also have their versions ! .

This unexpected but very pleasant 'gift' arrived yesterday , a 2023 Northumberland Police poppy pin (Thank You !).

Past and Present
1942-1944 : The ‘Austerity’ poppies were made in silk and cotton. Silk poppies kept a leaf, but the cotton ones did not .
“The wire stalk is giving place to an ingeniously contrived cardboard stalk, while the well-known metal centre is being replaced by a painted paper centre” . Forty million 'Austerity' poppies were produced but only four millions were the more attractive silk types. And even these were smaller than usual.” 2023 : Plastic-free Poppy . The new poppy is made from an innovative blend of renewable fibres from responsible sources and can be recycled in ordinary paper recycling collections. .

Rip Off time !
As usual when it is Poppy Appeal time the rip off merchants are asking ridiculous price for pins/badges.
A 2011 Aylesbury 'poppy man' has an asking price of £99.00 + £7.99 postage , I have a similar one (RBL 2011) that cost me less than £10.00. The same seller is also asking silly money for early dated poppy pins : 2007 - £119.99 2008 - £99.99 2009 - £129.99 .
