Default Unidentified WRNS badge

Hi all, had this badge for years ( since the early 80's) but have never known precisely what it is? Its obviously Woman's Royal Naval Service and very much like a Petty Officers cap badge but does anyone know exactly what? I originally thought maybe a beret badge, but all the wrens I ever saw in berets (which up until they ceased to exist as a separate service) was very very few, wore standard metal cap badges in line with male ratings.
Any thoughts?

Regards

Tony

Hi Tony
I have one of these that I was told was a beret badge. I was also told the single rope ring around the anchor indicates a WREN artificer rather than a regular rating and I suppose they may have worn berets in workshops.
Need some confirmation to prove that this is true but it seems reasonable.
Cheers,
Alex

Default Unidentified WRNS badge

I can confirm that my copy of BR 81, RN & RM Uniform Regulations (1984) has this badge listed as the beret badge worn by WRNS Artificer Candidates. When qualified as Artificers they would have worn the badge appropriate to their rate.
