sure Michael, the last one i missed out on a number of years back through Bosleys Badge Auction, this is the only one i have seen since then, pleased to get it .
The Crown Film Unit was an organisation within the British Government's Ministry of Information during the Second World War. Formerly the GPO Film Unit it became the Crown Film Unit in 1940. Its remit was to make films for the general public in Britain and abroad. regards Steve Last edited by arrestingu; 24-12-21 at 04:18 PM. |

After many years of disappointment and fruitless searching, finally found the badge in such wonderful condition. It really is a beautiful thing.

Eritrea Prison Service cap badge and shoulder titles
This year's best buys are these additions to my BMA Eritrea collection: Eritrea Prison Service cap badge and shoulder titles from a recent auction, and a 'beercan' EPS shoulder title from a collector overseas.

The only significant badge this year was the 2nd type KLR (8th Bn) Lpl Irish officer's boss badge. I now have the three 1908 boss badges of this unit.
See my albums There are more TF unit badges that I'm after....particularly 5th Bn and 8th Irish Bn badges. Last edited by KLR; 24-12-21 at 08:27 PM. |

I had a very good year, but this pair of w/m T5 RWF titles are rather good (from a forum member with thanks) as is this Welsh Horse on lugs, from ebay. I also had some very splendid Victorian/Edwardian period fs caps to add to the others I already had.

Mine seem quite dull compared to others, but still little gems to my small but pleasing Northumberland Fusiliers collection.
A lovely matching pair of WM collars,Volunteer Bn Northumberland Fusiliers, thanks to Mike (Quartermaster) And an FE WOODWARD slidered OR's NF cap badge. Happy Christmas all Chris |

My Gold Bullion HM Prisons Service Chief Officers cap I had been seeking the bullion badge for years but to get it attached to the cap was far more than I could have hoped for.
Merry Christmas all Stephen |

The NSW army only goes back as far as 1854, only yesterday compared to the British army but there are a lot of awesome badges. This year I made a swap for one of the rarest (or at least most of it), an 1860s Volunteer Rifles shako plate. It is missing the crown and I posted a Forum request asking if anyone has a spare crown of the right size and detail. Still have not found the right one.
The original Crimea period NSW RV company (formed in 1854 to repel possible Russian invaders) lasted only until 1860 when NSW formed 20 RV companies in Sydney and in country towns. I understand that a lot of British Rifle Vols were formed at the same time. There is an incredible complete shako in the National Museum in Canberra (not the AWM) worn by Percy William Faithful, together with his uniform and other accessories which you can see online. When they sent me a good closeup photo I wondered whether it was a different die to my badge, because the crown is low on the star and mine looks like the crown was attached higher. I don't know if there are any other examples in public or private collections. |
