Default 141st C.E.F Rainy River District(Border Bull Moose)Sweetheart

Hi,Shane here.I would like to know if anyone else out there has one of these or a different variation from the 141st.Also if anyone knows how rare it is.It's not for sale,I would just like to know.I'm not a super collector,I'm only trying to collect badges & sweethearts of the battalions my two Great Uncles & their three cousins fought as part of during WW1. Thanks. Shane

Hi Shane, Very attractive sweetheart pin. I have had one of these in the past and IIRC it was a TTC example.

Hi shane,
Badges to the 141st are reasonably rare. I have always thought these badges made by trophy craft as post war, some kind of veteran, memorial type badge.
Nice.
Lovely to see.
All the best
Dan

Hi Bill,Shane here. Thanks for your reply regarding my 141st sweetheart.I also received A reply from another member redman. In it he said that he believed that Toronto Trophy-Craft only manufactured Veteran / memorial pins.I also found a message you made on a post back in Feb 2008, where you were asking member DavidS about veteran/sweetheart pins & Toronto Trophy-craft.Based on what you have learned,do you think my 141st pin would be a WW1 era sweetheart or a post war vet/memorial pin? Do you know of any known WW1 sweethearts to be manufactured by T.T.C. Up until now I haven't felt the need to question it as a WW1 sweetheart. Thanks. Shane

My understanding at this point in time is that your type of pin was a sweetheart. Of course, it could have been worn / used as a vet pin. That would have to be researched. I have other TTC battalion pins which only seem to be sweetheart.

Trophy Craft was established in 1915 and given the popularity of sweetheart badges at the time it seems pretty likely that they would have gotten into that market right away. Dan, what is the evidence that they made these badges after the war?

hi
my feeling about trophy craft 'sweethearts'is that they are 'modern' looking and 'cheap' feeling when compared to other period sweethearts. did not realise that they were established in 1915. so i will quite accept that i'm wrong. i still avoid them when adding to my collection.
all the best
hope i have not upset anyone
Dan

Hi Dan, They certainly have a characteristic look. Rummaging through some stuff this afternoon, I came across a 157th Bn sweetheart in the Trophy Craft box it was sold in.
