Pembrokeshire Yeomanry
Could anyone please confirm that these two buttons are Pembrokeshire Yeomanry?

Sorry but I don't think they are Pembrokeshire Yeomanry. According to Howard Ripley's book on "Yeomanry Buttons" they did not use the Prince of Wales's feathers design until the 1960s and the buttons were in gold anodised aluminium, not brass.
The Denbighshire Yeomanry, again according to the "Yeomanry Buttons" book, used "silver, white metal and bronze" buttons of a very similar pattern. No mention of brass though. The problem is that many slightly different versions of this button are around and they were used by many different organisations and it can be very difficult to give a positive identification. Roger,
many thanks for your detailed reply. My identification was based on 357 of Howard Ripley's Buttons of the British Army 1855-1970, which is not a particularly comprehensive book. I am aware of the difficulties in positively identifying buttons with the PoW's feathers due to there being so many institutions that used them, hence my question. It would have been so much easier if the Pembrokeshire Yeomanry had used their title or at least P.Y. on their buttons. Simon |

Indeed it would seem that they did, but my remark was based on the only photograph of a Pembroke Yeomanry button in Howard Ripley's book, where he illustrates a button (357), similar to mine as being Pembroke Yeomanry.

That button appears on a DHY WW1 relic... on what I think is a communion wafer holder? Probably an officers mess item of some sort.

Many thanks for the update. Howard Ripley does not show a photograph of the Denbighshire Hussars Yeomanry button in my copy of his book. I clearly need a better reference book.
