I agree but single versions come up from time to time however beware of the 'cloth faker', he is getting very clever and will soon relieve you of your hard earned cash. If you are tempted to buy something rare, have the item 'sale or return' and seek advice here on this forum. There are a couple of experts who would be willing to help. Good luck with your search.

Default FORMATION SIGN

Dear Mike and Oriskany,
Many many THANKS!!! for your comments. Agree with Mike, this is a very rare piece. I had this item with me in the 70s. I got it from a BRITISH ARMY contracted tailor who had his shop next door. But lost them in the event of shifting houses thru the 70s and 80s.
I also agree with ORISKANY, that fakers can easily fake this piece, if they can fake more complicated signs , this is as easy as ABC. Well hope that it does not come out in a few month's time. If it does, take a good look again , the fakers have started working on it.
"BEST OF LUCK WITH ME!!!"
Sincere regards,
GURKHA RIFLES

Default JWS

Jungle Warfare School, (located in the 1960 at least) a few miles east of Johore Bahru, Malaya. Staffed by British, Australian, New Zealand and Malaysian personnel. The sign is obviously a "jungle-ised" version of the-then sign of School of Infantry, Warminster.
(I still bear the scars!)

I am fairly sure this was only worn on one sleeve with the other occupied by the badge for FARELF. Although I did not take too much notice at the time.

Default JWS - Formatin sign

Dear Fearnaught / Mike / Marc,
Gentlemen, excuse me for this delayed reply. Steered offcourse for sometime. Yes, this is the Formation sign worn by the BRITISH JUNGLE WARFARE SCHOOL situated at KOTA TINGGI, JOHORE BARU. (1960s t0 1971).
As I have mentioned earlier, I had mine, but lost it whilst shifting houses. Marc, you are absouletly very correct. This formation sign was worn on one side and on the other side the Formation sign worn was that of the FARELF. If my memory don't betray me, the JWS formation sign was worn on the Right sleeve and the FARELF formation sign was worn on the Left sleeve.
Still looking around for it. I reckon one appeared on eBay and was quickly taken by a Lucky guy. By now, this JWS
formation sign is a "hot-piece" of sort after material.
Gentlemen, THANKS for your contribution.
Cheers!!!

Hi all, was the JWS patch worn only by the instructors at the JW schooL?
Were students who qualified on the course also entitled to wear this?

It was a staff only badge, those attending wore their own badges. It was courses of instruction on how to live, move, navigate and survive in a jungle environment, not a pass or fail type.

Default Jungle warfare school J.B.

My wife served in the RAF Seletar Singapore. Their leave centre was JB and in 1964 she and some other Wraf girls did a, she thinks, 5 day course at the Jungle school and she was given one of the cloth badges, not to wear but as a souvenir, John.
