Default One for the Cloth Experts!

I've got this WO1s badge listed on ebay and have been asked if it could have been worn during WW1?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...:X:RTQ:GB:1123

As I do not know the answer I thought I'd ask our cloth experts... When was this cloth pattern rank badge introduced?

Best regards

Andy

Can't answer your question but if I was a WO1 I would insist on DIEU ET MON DROIT etc rather than an embroiderer's hieroglyphics!

Mike,

I'm not an expert on cloth, but suspect the badge to be genuine and early (ish) made prior to machines which could add such detail as DIEU ET MON DROIT

The early ones [1915 onwards] were quite amateurish, I have seen many versions which might well be Great War vintage. No sealed pattern to consult unfortunately. This one is very very amateurish and would not get into my collection, but could well be the McCoy.

If it is 2 x 1 & 7/8 inches then it is from WW2 prior to the 1945 printed versions with Arm of Service colour, but it was introduced again in 1950 when the motto was also added.

Marc
Marc,
are you saying that the printed ones were WW1?
