Nothing new about adicts selling their (and others) stuff to feed their adiction. Plenty of medals have ended up in pawn shops and so on to buy drink in the past. Come to that there is nothing new about servicement or their families feeling ambivilant about their military service and/or their medals. But the story is no credit to the shop keeper at all.
