possible Gurkha formation sign?
Someone on another forum suggested that this patch was worn by an officer of the 1st GR during the Partition of India [1947-48] and wondered if anyone knew what it signified. Any ideas?

I saw a very similar sign on the left arm of an ARVN soldier in Episode 10 (and final) of the Vietnam War on BBC iplayer. Worn, I think, as a diamond with the sword tip at 10 o'clock. I'll try and save the image. Mike

AS I say, posted on another forum - Indian Army WWII - with no details except what I provided, so it may well be the case that the officer picked up an unrelated badge for reasons unknown and dropped it into his 'bring back' box. |
