Default Royal Scots Piper’s badge backing with SCOTS cap badge?

Good morrow

Rather than hijack the thread confirming that the Royal Regiment of Scotland badge was, briefly, worn on the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Glengarry <http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=61525 > I thought I’d start a separate one to ask if there is a similar explanation to explain this Royal Scot’s Piper’s badge backing (2005 Hodges, R. British Army Badges p.120 #20 & #22) which appears, by the number and position of the lug holes, to have once borne the SCOTS badge?

Caveat: once confirmed or otherwise it will be available for swap or sale.

Thanks for looking

Graham
