That is interesting, I don't think that I have ever seen one of those, without Hobson's stamp on it's reverse.

Ya, in the 90's foreign dealers were coming out and hoovering up SA badges for next to nothing. Easier to get them overseas than in SA. Nevermind, you still have a spectacular selection there.

In the 1970's as well as 1980's too and yes, they cost really very little!

There is still UK dealers raiding SA sites and buying badges with GBP.

Hopefully with the strengthening Rand we may be more competitive. It was down to R18.5/1GBp and currently R16.1/GBP.

Forgot to add, not just SA badges, there was a time when you could buy the entire pre 1914 British Army garrison as well as both the South African Field Force and Natal Field Force!
