LAPEL BADGE DESIGN APPROVAL
Was there a War Department that would design or approve the design of lapel badges.
I am trying to find out who designed, manufactured and issued the badge that was issued to members of Auxiliary Units. Any help/suggestions appreciated. Thank you |

The badge was only issued upon, or after, its disbandment parades and dinners in 1945 so it was most likely designed by their OCA without any connection to, or approval of, any War Department whatsoever.
See MHS Bulletin No. 160 of May 1990 pp. 214-216 and Crown Imperial No. 91 of Summer 1998 p. 4. Rgds, Thomas. |

AUX LAPEL BADGE
Thank you Thomas.
However there was never an OCA as such the organisation was so secret. Each resistance patrol remained secret of each other until about 1990. Only the Area (County) Intelligence Officer knew the contact details of the men in his patrols and this was not shared. Only he could have supplied names etc for someone to order the correct number. But who designed the badge and was it approved? Who ordered it's manufacture? So many unknowns! |
