Default Sister Vivian Bullwinkel - Sole survivor of the Banka Island Massacre

Today is the 75th anniversary of the Banka Island massacre.

22 members of the Australian Army Nursing Service and other survivors of the sinking of the SS Vyner Brooke massacred on Banka Island by the Japanese.

The only survivor from this party of Australian nurses was Sister Vivian Bullwinkel.

Lest we Forget.

She was also very well respected after the war for her continual care of wounded and repatriated soldiers.

She was certainly an amazing woman.

Mick
