Default 6th Bn Gordon Highlanders badge - good or bad?

Hi

A French friend recently sent me this 6th Bn Gordon Highlanders badge as part of a swap. I understand genuine ones are hard to find so I’d be grateful if anyone could give it a thumbs up or thumbs down.

It is 58mm in diameter.

Caveat: if it is a good one it will be offered for sale or swap.

Thanks for looking

Graham

This is a very much copied badge. Genuine ones are white metal with 3 lugs on the back.

Cheers

John

Default 6th Bn (Volunteers) Gordon Highlanders

Hello Chacal,
You may want to glance at this as a ready reference; http://arnhemjim.blogspot.com/2013/0...volunteer.html . I've very recently see a 6th Gordons offered on e-Bay that looks extremely similar to the badge you are showing. Perhaps someone has produced a group of replicas, and is apparently flooding the market.

Thank you Jim, very useful link and much appreciated. The problem I have is that I've collected police insignia on-and-off for *ahem* years and military items (particularly the rarer items) are not something I have a great deal of knowledge of.

No matter, I've learned something new and got one good badge out of three.

Thanks again

Graham

Default 6th Gordon Highlanders

Here's a 3 lug badge I bought as an original about 8 years ago.
It's not like the usual fakes, which are constantly listed on eBay,and has far more of a 3D design to it,especially at the rear.

My only concerns were the brown looking tinge to the brazed parts, though the lugs themselves look to be the correct colour for a badge of this age.
