Default Some South African badges

Hello All,
Here are some recent acquisitions for comment please.

Cape Police collar. What does the 2 signify?
Cape Medical Corps collar, and button
Transvaal Horse Artillery THA title
Vallentin's Heidelberg Volunteers cap
Transvaal Medical Staff Corps cap, and MSC title

The Transvaal Medical Staff Corps badge has a brooch pin. Would this have been worn by nurses?

Thanks, Tinto

Hi Tinto,

According to my reference the 2 (first badge) refers to 'District 2 Griqualand West'.

You didn't find any locally made sheet brass (Boer War) badges did you?

Cheerio,

Roy

Hello Roy,

Thanks for your help, much appreciated. Occasionally those sheet metal titles turn up. I'm keeping an eye out for a Lumsden's Horse for you.

Regards,
Tinto

Hi Tinto,

You're most welcome, happy to help. And thanks for keeping an eye out for me.

Here is a link to my album to give you some ideas.

Hi again Roy,

Thanks for the link. I see you already have a Lumsden's Horse.

Cheers, Tinto

Hi Tinto,

Yes a recent addition and what a cracker too.

However I'm still on the hunt for a LH slouchy badge which is those letters entwined. Never seen one for sale but live in hope.

Cheerio,

Roy

Nice lot of early volunteer SA badges you have got.
The MSC title in white metal is for Transvaal Medical Staff Corps. The TMSC cap badge with pin was worn on the slouch hat. These also come with lugs E-W that was worn on the peaked cap.
