Default BOAT SHAPED BADGE

Hi everyone - another newbie! Just wondering if anyone can help identify
this boat shaped badge. It is JR Gaunt c. 1935 hallmarked silver. Have been searching the internet but not found anything even similar..

2nd photo added showing the rear of the badge. Thanks for your help...

Hi Robin

Its not unlike the ones discussed in this thread

http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=14121

But it may just be a charm from a charm bracelet?

Hello Robin

Possibly Indian Army, the date would suggest 2nd Punjab Regiment who used a similar galley on their mess dress buttons.

A photo of the back might help determine what type of badge it is.

Regards
Roger

Hello Robin,
It is in fact the cap badge of the 2nd Punjab Regiment.

No, this is definitely not a charm - too big - this measures 3.5 x 3.5cm

Hello all,

Undoubtedly it's to the 2nd Punjab Regiment (by the 1935 date). It is however not the usual cap badge as that has a scroll under the boat, possibly a collar?

Hi Chaps

Indian Army Dress Regs for 1931 state -

2nd Punjab Regt (1,2,3,5,10 bns only):

helmet/pagri/felt hat - no badge worn.
forage cap - galley in gold braid.
service dress cap - bronze galley with scroll below with regt title.

tunic collar - galley in gold braid.
service dress collar - no badge worn.
white mess jacket collar - galley in silver.

If the above is anything to go by then it's a Mess Dress collar dog.

David

Default 2nd Punjab Regiment badge

Apologies, to quick on the trigger, my oversight. FMT600 is correct, the words "2ND PUNJAB REGIMENT" or "PUNJAB REGIMENT" (depending on date of issue) should appear on a scroll directly under the oars of the "Musselmen".

Does it have any value?
