My small collection of Norwegian related airborne badges. Most of them Army, but also one from the Air Force and some from the Navy

Default Foreign para wings

There were dozens from countries like NZ, West Germany, Oman, US, India, Zimbabwe and examples from Warsaw Pact countries too. New Toms could wander in and ID what the wing was that their corporal was wearing over his right pocket on his para smock.
Nowadays I s'pose they'd just google it. I wonder what happened to all those wings?

Ian H (who spent about 6 weekends cataloging every badge in said museum)
The display of foreign para wings at the Airborne Forces Museum in Aldershot was done by CSgt Ted Dalton, who was (and is still) a leading light in Chute and Dagger UK. It was ahead of its time. Presumably they are now in storage at Duxford, as they can only display a fraction of their holdings.

The displays at Duboras were good too, put together by the owner of the shop, who was very patient with those who just came in to look at them and never bought anything! I think a lot of the badges were donated by customers.

Aldershot was a very interesting place for collectors in the 1970/80s, what with the ABF Museum, Duboras, Victors etc. They have all gone now, but I expect Colchester has become much more interesting since 16 Brigade arrived.

Default Foreign para wings

The day after I posted my last post on this subject, I discovered what had happened to the displays of foreign wings which had graced the walls of Duboras in Aldershot. They have been purchased and the individual items are now being sold off. Shame to break up such great displays but other collectors are benefiting from it. Photos of the remainders herewith.
