Default EPPING FOREST CONSTABLE

One for the Police/Security collectors. I was at a meeting at Epping Forest this week. Epping Forest is owned by the City of London. The Rangers are warranted to the level of a PCSO. They wear white shirt, black tie with City of London Coat of Arms. Kahki trousers. Yellow Hi Vis with Constable on breast pocket

Their official title is "Epping Forest Keepers" (not Rangers). That said, over the years they have produced a number of items of clothing with the designation "Constable" shown. I must correct your assertion that they only have the powers of a plastic policeman (PCSO). They are attested before a Justice of the Peace and have full police powers within Epping Forest. The legislation is Section 43 of the Epping Forest Act 1878. However, their uniform is primarily "brown" in colour and to the uninitiated they certainly do not look like police officers. Hence, the designation "Constable" on clothing etc.

Dave.

Some of the things you learn on this site are remarkable.

( managed yesterday to finally get a copy of "Badges of Office ", some more "Forces" in that that I had never heard of before. )

Peter,

I've had a spare copy on my bookshelf for several years, pity I did not know you were looking for one.

Dave.

I haven't seen any prison badges in my copy. It deals mostly with police helmet plates.

As Phil says, the book is police related. I think there is a fairly small photo of a Scottish Prisons KC cap badge, that's all.
