Do You have a date for this image as the Staffordshire Yeomanry badge has threw me a bit as I did not think the garter on the badge was introduced until post war, although not very clear KK has it sealed 8th August 1952

The 1952 s/p date is for ORs badges. The officers wore the design before hand.
A number f Yeomanry regts (Middlesex, Staffords/Wiltshire) adopted offr pattern badges for ORs post WW2. |

Jo,
The one to the left is Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry, the one next to the SA badge looks like first pattern RAC Paul Montgomery is wearing a Lt.General Rank slip on so I guess this is c.1942/3 |

The Notts Sherwood Rangers is also the officers pattern. ORs wore the brass bugle in WW1 up to 1936 (according to K&K) and from what I can see from these pictures the RTC cap badge 1941-44.

Monty's slouch hat
I believe this photo was taken when Montgomery first arrived in Egypt in August 1942, apparently he visited as many units of the 8th Army as was possible and presumably collected a cap badge from each one.
He adopted the Tank Corps beret later. Rob |

Is the small bugle badge above the Sherwood Rangers, the central devise from an Officer's cord boss badge?
Cheers Tony.

As the slouch hat appears to have a cloth trim to the brim it will be an Australian made version
