Default 1ST Life Guards

I'm after if possible a photo/picture of the above badge. The one worn as of 1900 to OR's. The star of the order of the garter, a crown above in gilt metal.
Is there is such a badge to OR's, and is the badge a 2 piece design.
Many thanks
Andy

Hi Andy

An interesting question.

I have the officers' RHG badge but not the 1st LG.

For the OR, there is a photograph somewhere on the BBF of a trooper of the 2nd wearing a simply '2' above 'LG' on a side hat, but I don't think the OR in the 1st LG, 2nd LG or RHG had official Service Dress cap badges until George V provided them himself in 1914 (according to Kipling and King).

Looking forward to hearing what others have to say.

Bill

Found it. It was a post by Keith Blakeman on 26-11-15.

Thats a Guelphic Crown of the QV period..... looks more like a rank (combined with the lines on the cap)?

Here are the two for 1900.. the 1st LG could be in collections as Coldstream Guards.... not much difference between them... if any?
