Default Transvaal Scottish WM Sporran (?) badge

Recently picked up this TS WM possibly Sporran badge. Neither Colin Owen or Andrew Dinnes seem to have it in their book. I suspect it may have been during the transition from Volunteer to permanent force or maybe an Officer's badge but just guessing?

No idea ...but I do have a WM one from the TS Volunteers which is brooched so I suspect a cap badge. I would guess an early cap badge before they went to gilding metal. I think around that time they were still using the sporran badge with an oval over St Andrew's cross and a half wreath?
Guessing...
Cheers,
Alex

Looks like a Sporran badge to me. Many of them had a silver wash and are quoted as so in the 1993 specs publish in the book Tartan on the Veld.

This does look like WM and not a silver wash

Here is a similar badge on a sporran. There are no markings anywhere on the leather.
Can one date this item?
