Default WW2 RCAF pilots wings

A survivor from the war years. Came to me with other wartime 'survivors'.

It looks like the moths left a few partial threads of the wool on the front?

Don't often see the summer dress badges. I don't think I have ever seen the wings before.

To tell the truth it appears like a 'desert wing', embroidered straight onto khaki. But this would be fanciful, no?

Apparently gourmets are not limited to the human race. This particular species was very discerning and seems to have had a partiality to wool/felt while snubbing silk/thread.
An eye opener to collectors.
