Default ID for Cross

At work right now (on a break!). Reference material at home.

However, believe it is Polish. Looks like it might be missing a central device mounted on the front. Will confirm when I get home. Hope this helps.

Apologies for the delay, LB. Checked my reference and I can't find a match. So my assumption is not 100%.

Still, I believe it's Polish, pre-WWII. Has commemorative dates on the arm of the cross, which, I believe is characteristic of some Polish unit badges. "23" might be the 23rd of whatever Corps of the Army.

Sorry I can't be more definite. Hope it's a start.

I agree with my fellow forum members that it is most likely Polish. For specific Polish insignia knowledge you might as well want to give it a shot here: http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/polish-militaria/

I think you will find the badge is for the Latvian 5th Cesis Infantry Regiment that fought in the Latvian War of Independence.

From memory it normally has a silver coloured representation of a man with a sword fighting some sort of mythical monster over the red centre piece.

Regards

Dennis

With a hint, okay the answer, it's easier to find an example.
