Anyone's guess . . !
I picked these two items up this morning, there is no indication of either of them having fittings to the reverse and the front looks like they have been "planed" or ground.
The Green Howards seems very large at 54mm wide to me, the British War Correspondent has two strange pieces of metal in between the tiers of lettering which make no sense to me. The man I bought these from said they had been in a frame and I did wonder whether someone had worked on these so as to be able to fit them in a frame. Your thoughts welcome. Rob |

Viewers?
Well, 119 people have looked at this thread and despite my poor photography knowone seems to have any thoughts on these two titles.
I have never seen a British War Correspondent title like this one, has anybody else? The Green Howards title seems too large to others I have had, is it a shoulder title or something else? Rob |

Hi Rob,
I'm sad to say I'm one of those who viewed this but my lack of knowledge in this specific area precluded me from offering any helpful advice. The Correspondent looks interesting, so I hope someone with more knowledge than I can offer up some thoughts. Good luck old chap. Cheerio, Roy

British War Correspondent
In Ray Westlakes excellent book on shoulder titles, "War Correspondent" (1858) is shown, this "British" variety seems to be something not encountered before, certainly by me, is it a prototype dud?
I think a troll through the lists of dubious dealers may be an idea . . ! Thanks for your thoughts chaps. Regards Rob |
