Default 13th-18th Royal Hussars

Found these two badges interesting in both their size and apparent usage. #1 appears to be gilt officers collar possible from near the time of amalgamation or early WW2. It measure 30 mm in height.

#2 is a later version with a QE2 crown. It is mounted with a slider for headwear use and measure 28 mm. This seems small for headwear usage when compared to a collar a decade or so before. In addtion this badge has a double Gaunt stamp.

Am I correct in calling badge #1 a collar?

Input always appreciated
thanks
Jack

Should have searched the forum before posting. I found a couple of interesting threads on the 13th18thHussar badge. need to digest that discussion a bit. A double Gaunt marked badge in that discussion also. Much relating to these badges has been talked about . My QC may be a duffer.

The Officers gilt version made first, from the new die, and then the ORs made. You should be able to see the "London" mark under the slider.... or at least part of it.

I recently found this date for the sealed pattern of this badge as Oct 1938.
