1 RRF, who performed Public Duties in 1975 (I mistakenly posted 1976).
As I remember, it was stated that the red tunics leeched or rubbed a pink discolouration into the edges of the white plastic. Last edited by leigh kitchen; 14-06-17 at 07:28 PM. |

Correct for the Band - not quite correct order of dress for a Royal Signals Major.
The hat in question was specially commissioned and not of the regulation style worn by the band. It was more akin to a Guardsman's bushby. |

Royal Signals Belt Buckle.
Dear Friends.
I can not give any information regarding the white belt being worn with this particular belt buckle. However I can say as a boy soldier in 1963 in the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Corps of Signals we had to purchase at our own expense (£1 1s) a black leather belt with this exact belt buckle. I believe this ceased in about 1964 and we then wore a normal webb belt with our newly issued No2 Dress. Prior to this we wore SD's. Sorry I can't help with the white version of the belt though. Best wishes Chris Walker www.signalsbadge.co.uk |

Alan, the Guards do not wear, nor have ever worn a busby, they wear a bearskin. The RA, RE and RCofS all wore (still wear in bands) the fur busby that was formally authorised as official full dress (optional dress for officers at levees and jamborees, weddings, etc.)between the two world wars (and replacing in the case of the former two, the universal blue helmet). There was nothing imaginitive about it and, at a formal parade of the kind you implied, it is inconceivable that you saw anything but the RCofS busby, which from one side (opposite to the coloured bag) looks a little like the fusilier fur cap (OR pattern), except that it's top is the same height at the front as at the back.

It was a bearskin. I'll pm you with the background. It was a bespoke bearskin worn by SO2 Comms London District. He had it specially made as a Guards-style bearskin with a Royal Signals hackle on the side. Alan Last edited by Alan O; 16-06-17 at 06:47 PM. |

As i mentioned in a previous post .i wore the black plastic and then the green plastic belt. If i remember correctly, when the Queen came to visit 2 Inf Div . The quarter guard wore the std green plastic belt without a plate .
The few times i wore no2s there i always wore the green, iwasnt ever reissued a plastic one white or black. |
