101 Commando
War & Sons selling a medal group with a superb photo of an officer in 101 Troop, 6 Commando wearing the COMMANDO and 101 arm badges.
Worth a look. No connection with seller. http://www.warandson.co.uk/war-memor...39-detail.html regards

Hi Simon
Very interesting - nit picking but I suspect the description has a transposition in part of the narrative VI being correct and IV being a typo. A fascinating grouping . I have seen the image many times (it is on the CVA site) but interesting to read the suggested service history - It is always wise to verify these potted histories. Excuse me being picky - no reflection on the grouping - but no such unit as 2nd Special Boat Service - it was 2 Commando Special Boat Section. 5th Special Service Battalion (Nov 1940 to March 1941) was found from the original Nos 5 and 6 Commandos raised in June 1940 and returned to those designations after 5 SS Bn was broken up. 101 Tp came from 6 Cdo (sometimes also referred to as VI Cdo). 101 Tp provided a founding cadre for 2 Commando Special Boat Section - i guess anyone spending £5000 on the grouping would know this anyway.
