Armoured Carrier Regt/Canada
I have had this cloth badge for a long time and while looking for something else I found it and would like others opinions, is it an original or a modern repro?
Any thoughts welcome Thanks Rob |

Hi Rob, while not a modern repro, it was not likely worn by the Regiment. That pattern is reported to have been made right at the end of the war, and arrived in unit lines as they were being disbanded.
Note the low hook on the G. That is the immediate post-war title. The repros, which are similar have a block serif bar on the G.

Bill, thank you for your reply, a late WWII issue that probably was never worn during the war, how do you advertise this if you are going to sell this item?
Officially, WWII ended according to UK government 3rd September 1947 due to the fact that those service personnel who died between August 1945 and the previous date were accorded a Commonwealth War Grave. So is this a fake or an unissued, late arrival? Rob |

Rob,
if you were to sell it I would be interested. Chris |

Rob, late issued and unworn is correct.
The 1CACR Archive notes many of these British made patches were to be found in the unit’s veterans’ effects, almost all in mint condition, as the only worn 1CACR patch was the Dutch made Brabant weave version. Cheers……John |

Here is an identification guide for the shoulder titles from the 1CACR Archive.
I should update the one on cap badges soon... Bill M.

Thanks Bill M. I think that just about puts my shoulder title as a second issue item, still WWII but probably unissued as I thought.
