Haven't got the book to hand, but I thought it appeared in Westlake's book on shoulder titles?

Doubled back in house to check - no. 969 in Westlake, RWF "unidentified", cast brass, of good quality.

Question RWF

According to Ray Westlakes book on titles this has so far as at publication been unidentified, as to whether anyone has found out the ID since publication I don't know.

Not my feld by any means, but I'd speculate that the quality and general style and the 'good quality brass' suggest pre-WWI, possibly from a Militia battalion?

Rumours are that it was worn by the RWF whilst in India also it does come in w/m as well.

Try asking on the Great War Forum, one of the members has this badge as his avatar.

hi guys
thanks for your replies.
here it is. front and back. unfortunately the 3 hex lugs it once had have been clipped off.
it looks die struck to me, not cast. and the presents of hex lugs would indicate to me it was made in the UK and not india.
what are your thoughts?
cheers
