The last badge is the one I like as it is a nice rare one that I have never seen before. The London Volunteers has been so widely copied that I could not tell you if it was real or not.
I don't collect VB badges but I think you will find that Royal Scots one should be voided. It does not look 100years old to me. Alan Last edited by Alan O; 10-05-08 at 03:17 PM. |

thanks alan
after 41 views of this thread & no replies, i was beginning to feel unloved. thanks for the feedback. the 5th is very convex in the center and i didnt know it was supposed to be void. the irish OTC is a nice badge. thanks again BC |

I am not 100% that it shuld be voided so if some one has a copy Of Bloomers bookperhaps they could confirm it?

BC, thats a lovely Dublin OTC badge, here is a variant of their cap badge, unfortunately its crown has broken off. 4 blades to the reverse.

Regards to the 5th vb royal scots badge, dps290 0 is right about bloomers book - badges of the highland and lowland regiments pg 10 does show a voided version of the badge.
However in bloomers other book , Scottish regimental badges 1793-1971, pg 7shows a non void version. Sorry if this clouds the issue. Perhaps this is a variant. It does look like a good stamping. Only my opinion. |
