Default Cap Badge in Photo Postcard

Hi all. This photo postcard came framed up with a General Service Medal (Palestine clasp) to the North Staffordshire Regiment. I am quite sure that it is not a North Staffs badge but do not know what it is. The photo looks to be more WW1 vintage rather than the late 1930s when he was in Palestine. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers.

My best guess (very grainy on a phone screen) is the Army Service Corps, but, I am not sure that his equipment/uniform is correct for that.

Thanks for that Phil. It is possible it could be ASC but there appears to be some sort of embellishment in front of the badge.

WW1 era warm weather uniform imo. Most likely ASC and the bandolier was widely worn by waggoners etc in the ASC.

He could be cavalry but the 4/7 DG badge was not introduced until c.1929.
