Default 9 Year Badge Cheshire RV

I have been meaning to post this badge on the forum for awhile. I managed to get hold of it thanks to Peter Brydon. The only other badge I have seen like it is a 11 year to the 4th Cheshire Rifle Volunteers which is in the Cheshire Regiment museum at Chester. The badge is 48mmx38mm and has eight holes in it for sewing onto the sleeve, does anyone have any idea where it was worn on the arm, top or bottom?

George,

I have a silver, sew on one, similar in style to yours to the 33rd Lancs RVC for 8 years service.

In the days when these were worn there were no rules or regulations regarding their position, very similar to the tunics you see adorned by County and National shooting prize badges.

I have no proof but best guess would be lower right sleeve just above the Efficiency Ring.

regards
