Omani Badge Identification
Another new one,
I bought it as an Omani Police Officer's badge, is this right as it is different from the other police badge I have (shown too). Cheers, Bill

There are several images on the web that confirm that it is indeed a gold and enamel version of the OP badge.

Thanks Simon, I did see one on the net that said it was the Royal Cavalry so wasn't 100% sure.
Thanks again, Bill

The silver/blue badge is indeed Royal Oman Police, the gilt/red badge is worn by uniformed palace staff. Known as the Diwan. I am possibly wrong but I've never seen a gilt ROP badge.
The Royal Stables and later Royal Cavalry of Oman wear a similar badge but it is distinguished by horseshoes and a different scroll. Neither organisation is part of the Royal Army of Oman!!! |

Hi Eddie,
thanks for the info. I did wonder at the police info as the scroll at the bottom has much fewer words on. I did see the cavalry badge with the horseshoes on and different writing again, so ruled that out too. I would never have got what it was though!! Thanks once again for your expert help with an unknown Omani / Arab badge.....I really must learn Arabic as Russian doesn't help much with badges Regards as always, Bill
