Royal Naval Division unusual MGC badges
So I've seen the Machine Gun Battalion RND badge before - but I've recently seen 3 badges that are a combination of the MGC badge and the badges of Anson Bn RND, Hawke Bn RND and Hood Bn RND.
The badges are clearly two badges made into one - and I would have dismissed them as fantasy badges except I have every reason to believe the badges were made by Gaunt themselves ? Would theses have been trial badges ? Or has any other member seen them before? |

These are well known fantasy fake badges, there are many combinations around.

That would have been my first thought except these are in a Gaunt sample book from WW1. Of course they might have been added to the book at a later date ? I've not had a chance to examine them and all the other badges in the book are fairly mundane - so if no one has ever seen them before other than in fake land, I'm going to lean towards the "added later" theory.

RND badges
Could these badges in the Gaunt book be trial samples that were never adopted?

If they are genuine *trial" badges then the three are probably worth the asking price for the whole album ( 550 quid) - however given other members have said theyre well known fakes ( confess I've never seen them before) I'm not brave enough take a punt. !
