Default What era is this from?

I have had this badge a while and wonder what Fire Service it was worn by and when.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards Rob

Can of worms, Rob. I put these in a category of "not fully IDed". Generic fire service / Industrial Fire Service? seems to be no absolute answer.

Smile Fire Service?

Thanks Phil, I thought you may know the answer, these badges seem to have no specific Brigade as far as I can see, maybe earlier than WWII.

Regards Rob

Default Generic Fire Briade badge

Dear Rob, This badge was used by many Borough Police Fire Brigades and Industrial fire Brigades. Sunderland Borough Police Fire Brigade fitted them to the new leather fire helmets when they replaced the brass fire helmet in 1936.
Please find attached 2 images of this taking place.

Smile Generic Fire Brigade badge

Harry,
Many thanks for this information and the superb photos. I expect these brass Generic Fire Brigade badges were worn during WWII by both Borough Police Fire Brigades and Industrial fire Brigades.

An item to put on my "Home Front" board.

Regards Rob

Rob,
I believe that during WW2 the local authority Fire Brigades came under the National Fire Service and wore the NFS badge.

Default Industrial Fire Brigades

Of course, AFS and NFS, my mistake. But could these badges have been worn by Industrial Fire Brigades as many companies had there own Fire Services?
