Cameronian Highlanders badge
Hi,
I was recently given a box of old cap badges collected by a retired guy when he was a small boy.. one is a CH badge but I noticed it has a small makers plate fixed to the rear which reads 'Firmin & Sons London St Martinsia?e' Is this unusual or standard practice to fit a plate? Also could anybody put a date to it - WW1? Thanks in advance, Rick |

It's for the Cameronians, the Scottish Rifles. Nothing to do with Highlanders as they were a Glasgow Regiment. The plate is for Firmin St Martin's Lane so it is a bought badge rather than issued.

It was worn from the 1900s upto 1958 by the Regulars and longer by the TA and cadets,

Firmin moved to St. Martins Lane in 1894.
