Default RAAC Badges and Patches - 1948 to 1960

Here's my collection of Royal Australian Armoured Corps badges and patches worn between 1948 and 1960.

Sorry for the sideways pics but photo was taken with an iPhone (and Apple still need to fix this bug).

Hi Mick, great display, what is the badge with the SAMR title? It looks like the bird on the cap badge, is it an arm badge? best wishes Mike

Hi Mike,

Do you mean the formation patch?

That's the South Australian Command patch that was worn by South Australian units in the 1950s.

During the 1950s, all soldiers wore battledress flash on their uniforms with a formation patch underneath it.

I also have two versions of the 3/9 SAMR hat badge - one has a painted black shrike on it.
