Hello
I joined the Forum on the 2nd March 12, about 25 years too late. I have just over 300 badges, 99% British with a few Commonwealth and foreign.
They are all in excellent condition and a mixture of mostly originals, with some re-strikes and replicas. I am proud of every one of them. Authenticity is not my problem, I have no intention to auction my collection at Sotherby`s. My interest is from Queen Victoria to George VI. These are the regiments that made Britain's military history in sheer blood and guts. I am not interested in the current day British Army regiments of Queen Elizabeth II. These modern regiments are merely an abstract and meaningless representative replica of all the fine original regiments which actually did the job, now disbanded or amalgamated into some modern conglomerate whose badges mean absolutely nothing in terms of British history. So, my interest is in Queen Victoria or Kings crown badges. |

Hullo John,
That is a very interesting post. Welcome to the forum. I like the way you express your views, particularly as I cannot afford to go for the original good stuff and have to be content with what I get, but for me it is what the badge represents, not its value in terms of money. Regards, johnG

Welcome to the forum John Bull I agree that QVC to GR V1 are what I would wish to aquire but you can,t write off all the subsequent badges, as a serviceman in a regiment today his past Regimental History is all rolled up in the badge he wears today even if its now 5 different past regiments, pity they,ve gone but this is tomorrows history I haven,t really concentrated on AA but that in its way was stupid like i say tomorrows history welcome to the Forum, all the best Billy
