AAD - Regular Infantry of the Line - Missing Badges
Hi Guys,
I'm putting this thread here for greater exposure than may be obtained the 'Wanted' section of the market place. Below is a list of badges that I need to include in one of the sections of my 'The Badges' chapter of my book. These badges are currently not owned by myself and while it may be possible to borrow badges there are issues regarding postage, insurance, re-importation and associated VAT issues etc. Members taking their own images too and sending them on may be an alternative but lets see if I can obtain actual examples first. Therefore, if anyone has any of the following badges for sale please contact me preferably on my gmail address: hagwalther at gmail dot com or alternatively via PM. OK, the badges I need to complete AAD - Regular Infantry of the Line are: AAD09 – Dorset/Dorsetshire Regiment (Scroll ‘DORSETSHIRE’) AAD35 - Lancashire Fusiliers AAD39 - Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) (Tudor) AAD40 - Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) (St. Edward) AAD56 - Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort's Own) (Tudor) AAD72 - Royal Norfolk Regiment AAD76 - Royal Scots Fusiliers (Tudor) AAD80 - Royal Warwickshire Regiment (With marked slider) AAD84 - Somerset Light Infantry AAD86 - South Lancashire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Volunteers) (Small) AAD87 - South Staffordshire Regiment (Tudor) AAD89 - South Wales Borderers (With marked slider) AAD90 - Special Air Service (Preferably pre J.R.GAUNT B'HAM (1966) or other maker but not London Badge and Button Co Ltd) Regards Chris Last edited by hagwalther; 14-11-10 at 12:29 AM. |

The AAD bit: Notes: 1. Each badge will be allocated a uniquely identifying code number based on the following format: A two digit metal type code: AA - Anodised Aluminium followed by a one digit group code: A - Household Cavalry B - Royal Armoured Corps C - Foot Guards D - Regular Infantry of the Line E - Gurkhas F - Corps G - Territorial Army – Royal Armoured Corps H - Territorial Army – Yeomanry I - Territorial Army – Artillery J - Territorial Army – Infantry K - Territorial Army – Corps L - Departments and Other Services M - Departments and Other Services (Overseas) N - Officer Training Corps O - Military Schools P - Officially Authorised for Issue (Never Issued) Q - Officially Authorised for Issue (Sealed Pattern Only) R - Experimental and Trial Items S - Army Cadet Force and Combined Cadet Forces followed by an incremental number. Currently AAD - Regular Infantry of the Line photos are undergoing peer review but there are 14 badges missing from 95 odd in this group. There are other badges missing too from groups to follow but I want to try and do this on a controlled release basis - In all I think I need 22 badges to complete the 'The Badges' chapter with images of all giving an obverse and reverse shot. Failing being able to purchase we may be able to do a loan of items but there are issues re: postage, loss of items and insurance. Failing loans we may be able to do the badges photographed by a professional photographer. Not to knock members photographic technique here but these badges are difficult to photograph well and many images shot are of small size in 'detail' of a few hundred kilobytes when images of megabytes are really required if the image needs working on. re: payment - send me some suggestions and images of badge and we can go from there. 70 quid should cover the above at a fiver a piece... Regards Chris |

I think so - some are pretty obscure though but that figure doesn't include ACF and CCF badges were are really in a world of their own re: authorisation procedures.

Hi Guys,
I have just been sold a very nice correct era AAD92 - Welch Regiment by Timings so that is one to take off the list. If anyone else has any others from the list in post #1 then please contact me. Regards Chris |

Not mine but it might be worth contacting the buyer and see if he will send you a picture of the back. |

Thanks Alan, Yes, I asked for a piccy when the auction was on. Hell of a price to pay for a variation of the Dorset Regiment A/A badge though and I have to admit well down on the list of my 'Wants'. Regards Chris |

It was advertised as "Annodised" rather than "Anodised", otherwise it might have been picked up by more potential buyers and the price might have gone much higher.

This is what I have on the Devon Regt. 1. Two versions of this badge exist one with the scroll of 'DORSETSHIRE' (CB 3071) and the other with the scroll of 'DORSET' (CB 7689) where both are described in the List of Changes change C 8032. 2. The badges designation of 'DORSET R.' was first recorded in the List of Changes C 4717 of 30th November 1951. 3. The 'DORSET' variant of this badge is recorded in Cap Badge Prices priced at 2 shillings and 4 pennies each. Mind you everyone missed the rare, officially authorised and believed issued badge that I picked up a couple of weeks ago for 8.50 pounds on eBay which would make the DORSETSHIRE a pretty common badge.
