Default WW1 15th Division Artillery Staff Armband

For interest 15th Scottish Division Royal Artillery CRA Staff Armband. A bit stained but I was very pleased to get it. The Div Sign was worn on helmets but not as a Div Patch.

regards

Mark

A superb item - the logic of the 15 Div sign has always intrigued me. Very clever play on word and image. Mike

The triangular symbol represents a "scotch", a wedge if I recall correctly?
I don't know why the circle.

The 'circle' is the letter 'O'.

'O' being the 15th letter of the alphabet.

One cannot get much neater than that! The 15th letter O survived into the Second World War design, but the scotch was replaced by a Scottish heraldic lion. Mike

I should've spotted that - I have a little party trick of being able to instantly repeat back to people any word or phrase they give me by spelling it out as numbers rather than letters.
The result of spending years whiling my time away in sangars & running out of things to I spy.
Always makes people shake their heads in despair & find someone else to talk to.
